Shopping for Mazda Speed Sensor
Ordinarily the speed of a Mazda can be tracked by the use of speed sensors. These auto parts collect the information regarding the current speed level of the engine, and then send it to the right instrument that would show the data visually. Early models typically monitor speed through speedometers and tachometers. Today, speed sensors direct the gathered data to corresponding computer programs which is certainly more sophisticated.
Mazda speed sensors are of two kinds, the wheel speed sensor and the engine speed sensor. Both are electronic devices that work through accumulating and sending speed signals. The first one is the sensor that measures the rotational speed of the wheel, and is present only in vehicles that feature anti-lock breaks. It transmits the data obtained to the ABS management computer, which then measures the acceleration, braking distances, lap times and cornering forces so as to know if the wheel is going to lock up. While the engine speed sensor works on recording the rate of crankshaft spin. And then directs the information to a separate computer program, to the engine management system. Accordingly, engine functions are tracked and modified for diagnostic routines.
Equipping a Mazda with the two speed sensors would apparently provide better speed monitoring. But normally, Mazda units that already feature ABS speed sensors or wheel speed sensors no longer make use of engine speed sensors. This is due to the fact that the engine management system can make use of the speed signal from the wheels through the ABS management program. The efficiency of work though, will still depend on their condition and quality.
