But if the crackling noise seems to come from the top part of the windshield when running at highway speeds, it’s more likely to be caused by a loose trim on the sides of the windshield. The noise is usually created at around 60 MPH or when you are driving against the wind.

Also, move the spray paint can back and forth over the bug shield and in a steady motion. This will ensure even paint application.
