The A/C condenser is that part of your vehicle's air conditioning system where heat dissipation occurs. The refrigerant that passes through the A/C evaporator and absorbs as much heat from the vehicle's cabin is passed to the A/C condenser in hot, gaseous form. In the a/c condenser, the hot refrigerant is cooled and condensed into liquid form before it is passed on to the expansion valve. The expansion valve would then pass the refrigerant back to the evaporator and the whole auto air conditioning process starts once again.
The A/C condenser needs as much cold air as it can take to efficiently cool the refrigerant. That is why the condenser is usually installed in front of the radiator, just behind the grille where air enters the engine compartment of the vehicle. The engine fan also aids in the proper functioning of the A/C condenser; and if in case an engine fan couldn't help, like in the case of most front-wheel drive vehicles, an auxiliary, electric fan is used instead.
The air conditioning system of your Oldsmobile simply won't cool your vehicle's cabin if the Oldsmobile A/C condenser is not functioning properly.
